Reconnecting With Prof. Richard Deaves of Degroote Business School

Stepped back in time by a few years recently, into the early days of Behavioural Economics. I met with Professor Richard Deaves, whom I had collaborated with on thought-leadership work in the investment industry and on the Investment Dealers Association initiative – Canada Steps Up – The Task Force to Modernize Securities Legislation in Canada.

Richard was giving a talk at the National Club for my alma mater, chronicling the struggles to gain acceptance of this paradigm-shifting concept, and explaining how the ideas are now becoming accepted in finance circles. It was a real pleasure to share the concepts we work with in a gathering of alumni, graduate students and even Sherry Cooper – recently retired from her role as EVP and Chief Economist at Bank of Montreal.

Hope to catch up with Richard more leisurely when he’s in town again!
